is a senior research adviser at the Institute of Art History, Zagreb, and has been working as a researcher at the Institute since 1989. In 1992 he defended his MA theses (Spatial Organisation of the Island of Krk in Roman Antiquity), and in 1999 his PhD theses (Emergence and Urban Development of Šibenik in the Middle Ages), both supervised by Igor Fisković, at the Department of Art History, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, University of Zagreb. He has been teaching at the Art History Department, University of Zadar and also at the Doctoral studies at the same University, supervising dissertations; has been teaching at the Doctoral studies at the Department of Art History, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, University of Zagreb. He conducted archival inquiries in Državni arhiv Dubrovnik, Državni arhiv Zadar, Arhiv HAZU u Zagrebu, Archivio di Stato in Venice and Archives nationales in Paris.
D. Zelić was PI of the project “Medieval Architecture and Urban Development in Croatia” (2012-2014); and PI of the project “Croatian Art-History Terminology – Establishment of the Thesaurus” (2007-2009), a team member at the project “Artistic Heritages from Antiquity to Early modern age” (2000-2006, head of the project Diana Vukičević Samaržija). In 1993 he was a visiting fellow at Paris IV (Sorbonne) / French Government grant. Since 2005 he is a member of the editorial board of the journal “Radovi Instituta za povijest umjetnosti / Journal of the Institute of Art History”; since 2009 a member of the editorial board of “Kvartal, Chronic of Art History in Croatia”; 1994-2005 a member of organizing committee of conferences at International Centre for Late Antiquity and Medieval Age, Motovun (head: Miljenko Jurković). He was collaborator at the exhibition projects “Sveti trag / Sacred token” (1994), “Mir i dobro / Pax et Bonum” (2000), “Krešimir Tadić – Fotografije” (2000), “Hrvatska renesansa / Renaissance in Croatia” (2004), “Renesansa u Francuskoj / Renaissance in France” (2005) and “Dominikanci u Hrvatskoj / Dominicans in Croatia” (2007/2008).
D. Zelić’s research interest are urban history and urban development of medieval Croatian towns, archival sources.
