database overview 30/09/2015

At the end of the first year of ducac project implementation the database of the full transcriptions of the deliberations of Dubrovnik’s Councils contains 1955 deliberations completely available at the project web pages (please see terms of use).

tabela

There are 135 spots inserted on the map Dubrovnik 1400-1450, each of them linked to a separate page containing all the deliberations related to that part of the city. The page may contain from just one to several dozens of the related deliberations.

sve
The methodology of mapping comprised the use of any kind of spatial-related information, therefore the deliberations may refer to a building whose location is well known, to a building located prope, apud, iuxta etc. some other building, thus referring to the surroundings of the named building, or recorded as the building in sexterio, meaning located in one of the six parts of medieval Dubrovnik (see for example: in sexterio Sancte Marie).

mapping
However, some deliberations record buildings with no spatial-related information and these transcriptions are available at the project web pages as unmapped documents.
Since the aim of the project is not just to research the changes of the built urban tissue but also all the aspects of the urban development as well as its management, the database contains some special strands, like those concerning immundicie, pro saligiando stratas etc., those regarding the administrative institutions responsible for the implementation of the deliberations or the purchase of building materials, also available at the project web pages as unmapped documents.

The development of the database will continue during the second year of the ducac project implementation.
